The Samsung Galaxy S2 was released mid 2011 while its huge brother the Samsung Galaxy Note was released last quarter of 2011. To date, the Galaxy S2 sold more than 30 million units while the Galaxy Note sold over 1 million units from its release date. This is how famous these Samsung handsets are. When it comes to form factor and make the Galaxy Note is way taller and wider than Samsung current flagship the S2. It is 5.78" tall and 3.26" wide. The S2 comes in at 4.9" tall and 2.6" wide. The Note's thickness is at 0.38" while the S2's thickness is at 0.33" only. For an enormous handset the Note is quite slim and it is only.02 thicker than the S2. When it comes to weight the Note is noticeably heavier at 116 grams as opposed to 116 grams weight of its famous brother.
Both of these handsets are being powered by dual-core processors. The Note uses a 1.4GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor while the S2 uses a 1.2GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor. There's a minor difference when it comes to their processing prowess. They both use Mali 400 MP GPU for their graphical acceleration. So if you pit the two handsets against each other, it is quite evident that the Galaxy Note is a far more powerful handset than Samsung's latest flagship.
Let us now move on to their displays. The Note ships with a 5.3" Super AMOLED display (1280 x 800p at 285ppi pixel density) while the S2 ships with a 4.3" Super AMOLED display (800 x 480p at 217ppi pixel density). They both use the same technology "Super AMOLED" for their displays. They are also being protected with the same Gorilla Glass displays.
Both of these handsets sport a whopping 8MP camera and 2MP front-facing camera. They both have LED flash and Autofocus. They can also record HD videos at 1080p at 30 frames per second. Features in the likes of geo-tagging, face and smile detection, and touch focus are included as well.
When it comes to their Operating System, they both ship with Android Gingerbread OS. But the good news is both are also upgradable to Android's latest Iteration the Ice Cream Sandwich. They also have Samsung's TouchWiz version 4.0 that features redefined interface.
It is not that hard to understand why these handsets are so famous right now. They are both powerful on their own and they have that selling prowess that not even the famous iPhone can beat.
